Enter a complete address including street, city, state, and ZIP code

Checking eligibility…

How It Works

  • Address Geocoding — Converts your address to latitude/longitude coordinates using the ArcGIS World Geocoding Service.
  • Eligibility Check — Checks the coordinates against USDA Rural Development designated ineligible areas.
  • Use My Location — Optionally uses your device’s GPS to check eligibility at your current coordinates, skipping the address lookup step.
  • Result Determination — Locations outside ineligible polygons are considered eligible for RD programs.

Search Tips

  • Enter a complete address including street number, street name, city, state, and ZIP code.
  • For best results, use the standard USPS address format.
  • Rural Development eligibility is based on geographic location, not applicant qualifications.
  • Use the “Use My Location” button to check eligibility at your current position without typing an address.
  • This tool checks only location eligibility; income and other program requirements still apply.

NNMIL & LIHTC Note

  • Properties in eligible rural areas may qualify to use National Non-Metropolitan Income Limits (NNMIL) for LIHTC rent and income calculations.
  • Properties financed with tax-exempt bonds may not use NNMIL limits, regardless of location.
